Have you been ignoring internal nudges to make a move or try something new? That’s the call!
Stage 1: The Call to Adventure
The hero is called to embark on a journey, leaving behind their comfort zone to face challenges and obstacles. This could be a new opportunity or a personal challenge that needs to be overcome. Maybe you’ve been feeling unfulfilled in your current job or relationship, or maybe you just have a nagging feeling that there’s something more out there for you. Whatever the call may be, it’s time to answer it. The call starts out as a gentle nudge or a whisper, but can become louder, as in dramatic shifts in life’s circumstances. Everything from the gentle nudge or whisper to the dramatic shifts and life altering events are all there to encourage our growth.
Stage 2: The Mentor
The hero meets a mentor who provides guidance, support, and wisdom. This could be a teacher, a coach, a parent, or a friend. It is important to note that another key component of the journey is dialing into your own intuition. Learning to trust yourself is important when facing life’s challenges.
Stage 3: Crossing the Threshold
The hero crosses the threshold, leaving their old life behind to embark on a new adventure. This could be a physical journey or an internal journey of personal growth. Once you decide to answer the call and decide to move forward on the journey you are committed to letting go of what is familiar and stepping into the unknown. For you, this means stepping out of your comfort zone and taking on new challenges. It could be starting a new business, going back to school, or even just trying something new that scares you. The key is to face your fears and push through the obstacles that stand in your way.
Stage 4: Tests, Allies, and Enemies
The hero faces tests and challenges along the way, but they also find allies who help them overcome obstacles. They may also encounter enemies or obstacles that need to be overcome. Every challenge comes to guide you on the path or to build knowledge, understanding, or skills that will be needed as you move forward on your journey.
Stage 5: The Approach
The hero approaches the final challenge, knowing that they have grown and changed along the way. They are ready to face the ultimate challenge. You have all of the tools necessary to face the final challenge.
Stage 6: The Ordeal
The hero faces the final challenge, which could be a physical battle, a personal struggle, or a test of their character. They must overcome this challenge to achieve their goal. This is where you realize all that you have learned, and reveals the growth that has been developed through the journey to this point.
Stage 7: The Reward
The hero achieves their goal, which could be realized personal growth, a new skill, a new perspective, or a physical reward. At this point the challenge is over and you may be setting your sites on the next call.
Stage 8: The Return
The hero returns to their old life, but they are forever changed by their journey. They have grown, learned new skills, and gained new perspectives. For you, this means sharing your story and inspiring others to take their own Hero’s Journey. You may have a new sense of purpose or a new perspective on life that you can share with others. By doing so, you can help others find their own calling and answer the call just like you did.

As women, we often find ourselves juggling multiple roles and responsibilities, from taking care of our families and homes to pursuing our careers and passions. With so much on our plates, it can be challenging to find time for personal development and growth. However, there is a magical hour that can help us make progress towards our goals and become the best versions of ourselves – enter the Golden Hour.
What is the Golden Hour? The golden hour refers to the first hour of the day after waking up. During this time, our minds are fresh, and our bodies are rested, making it an ideal time for personal development activities. The golden hour is an opportunity to invest in ourselves, whether it’s through learning new skills, practicing self-care, or setting intentions for the day ahead.
Personal Development Activities for the Golden Hour:
Meditation and mindfulness practices – taking a few minutes to center yourself and focus on your breath can help reduce stress and improve your overall well-being.
Reading or listening to motivational content – whether it’s a book, podcast, or inspirational quotes, exposing yourself to positive and uplifting messages can help you stay motivated and inspired throughout the day.
Journaling – writing down your thoughts, goals, and intentions can help you clarify your vision and stay accountable to yourself.
Exercise or stretching – getting your body moving in the morning can boost your energy levels and improve your mood.
Planning your day – taking a few minutes to plan out your schedule and priorities can help you stay organized and focused throughout the day.
Why is the Golden Hour Important for Women’s Personal Development? The golden hour is a time when we can focus on ourselves and our goals without distractions or interruptions. It’s a time to prioritize our needs and invest in our personal growth. For women, who often put the needs of others before their own, the golden hour is an opportunity to prioritize self-care and development. By starting the day with personal development activities, we set the tone for a positive and productive day ahead.
How does it work? The first step is setting your alarm. Since the Golden Hour is for you, if you need to be sure to go to bed an hour earlier, and set that alarm to wake you before the rest of the house gets moving. Then, upon waking, dedicate yourself to doing three of the five things on the list above. Each will be allotted twenty minutes.
Implementing my version of the morning hour has changed the relationship I have with mornings. It has also made it possible for me to implement a morning practice that easy to keep up with. My typical morning starts with either a walk or tai chi, meditation, and journaling/day planning. If I have a light day or require a little more encouragement (we all have those days) I’ll tune into a podcast or audio book. I feel so accomplished and inspired to take on the day after I’ve taken that time for myself.
The golden hour is a simple yet powerful concept that can help women make progress towards their personal goals. By taking advantage of this magical hour, we can invest in ourselves and become the best versions of ourselves. With the added bonus of building trust, by making ourselves number one our priority list.
So next time you wake up, try dedicating the first hour of your day to personal development activities and see how it can positively impact the rest of your day.
